رصدخانه مراغه، نخستین فرهنگستان علم
رصدخانه مراغه به همت چه کسی ساخته شد
فخرالدین مراغه ای معمار معروف روزگار ایلخانی مامور ساخت این بنا می شود و خواجه از محل در آمد اوقاف سراسر کشور هزینه ساخت رصدخانه را تامین میکند. رصدخانه مراغه که قبل از اختراع تلسکوپ ساخته شده است، جزو مجهزترین رصدخانه های جهان بوده که به مدت سه قرن بی رقیب بوده است. ساخت رصدخانه مراغه بیش از یک دهه زمان می برد و در کنار آن مدرسه و کتابخانه ای مجهز و یک مرکز علمی برای تبادل آرای دانشمندان ساخته می شود. در این مرکز به غیر از نجوم و رصد ستارگان علوم و فنون مختلفی توسط دانشمدان مطرح از سراسر جهان آموزش داده می شده است.
ویژگی های رصدخانه مراغه
رصدخانه مراغه بر روی تپه ای مشرف به چشم انداز زیبا و روبه رو به دریاچه ارومیه قرار گرفته است. ارتفاع این تپه به 110 متر می رسد و قسمتهای مختلف رصدخانه را در بر می گیرد. سازه اصلی رصدخانه مراغه به شکل برج استوانه ای به قطر 22 متر ساخته شده است. دیوارهای برج تا 80 سانتی متر ضخامت داشتند. در داخل رصدخانه ، 6 اتاق مجزا وجود داشت که کاربردهای مختلفی داشتند.
